The Telemetry Educator reports directly to the Director of Educational Services. (S)he is responsible for providing formal and informal education programs for the staff of GE, GW, AMS, FP and SSU with planning assistance from the Management Team of the respective departments. The Telemetry Zone Educator possesses a broad scope of knowledge and skills to facilitate improved patient outcomes and improved staff performance in the clinical setting. The Telemetry Zone Educator possesses the skills and knowledge to competently provide the appropriate services to patients and staff and is responsible for routine bedside clinical shifts.
Must be currently licensed to practice in the State of California with no less than 3 years in the last 5 years of critical care experience, and experienced in formal and informal teaching of adult learners in critical care. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required. ACLS must be obtained prior to completion of orientation and independent assignment. Must pass the CHOMP Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation and Treatment test at 85% prior to completion of orientation and independent assignment, then annually. Minimum of BSN or currently enrolled in formal BSN program or enrolled in courses that can be applied to completion of formal BSN program. CCRN, PCCN, or medical-surgical specialty certification completed within 18 months of hire.
MSN preferred. CCRN, and/or PCCN certification preferred. Membership in nursing professional organization related to telemetry or medical-surgical nursing preferred.
