Job Description:

The Ohana Perinatal Therapist reports to a Clinical Program Manager and is responsible for evaluation, individual therapy, and group therapy to caregivers in the perinatal period suffering from a perinatal mental health condition like peripartum depression, anxiety, and other disorders specific to pregnancy and post-partum. In addition, the Ohana Perinatal Therapist provides mental health education to patients and, as appropriate, to the community and other professionals.

Other important dimensions of this position include commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and quality of care and outcomes measurements, professionalism, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. Must have strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, interest in perinatal-specific issues, curiosity, a warm and empathic approach as well as comfort prioritizing safety and quality of care. This is a growing program, and there will be opportunities to think outside of the box and strategize within the multi-disciplinary team to deliver optimal care to the perinatal community.

Experience

Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience providing psychotherapy to new or expecting parents. Training in either Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is required. Additional training in Exposure and Response Prevention and Interpersonal Psychotherapy is preferred, but not required. Experience working with perinatal loss is also preferred. The therapist will be expected to participate in additional training in EBT (evidence-based therapies) as needed; education and supervision activities connected to identified areas of clinician interest and programmatic needs of Ohana.

Education

Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology or Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or higher degree is required.

Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment as well as ongoing required training. 

Licensure/Certifications

LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT is required. Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) is preferred. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required. MOAB certification must be obtained within the first 6 months of hire. Will complete mandatory 5150 training by Monterey County to obtain 5150 certification and obtain 5150 Professional staff authorization yearly.

Mon - Friday ( 8am - 5pm) or Tuesday through Friday ( 8am to 5 pm) and Saturday (9am - 5pm)
