Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) reports to the Director of Intensive Care Unit. The NP will be responsible for providing direct patient care and assisting the physicians with the management of patients within the service line. Must be skilled in critical thinking, rapid decision-making and technology. Must have ability to depict lethal diagnostic information that should be considered emergent and communicate timely information to the physician.  Also maintains registered nurse competencies by possessing the skills and knowledge to competently provide appropriate patient care.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) functions under general Nurse Practitioner Standardized Procedure approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (CIDP), and provides routine care and management of the patient with acute and chronic complaints in collaboration with the supervising physician and through implementation of standardized procedures. The NP possesses skills and knowledge to competently provide excellent patient care, offer a high level of compassion, patience, and subject matter expertise. The NP will also educate patients and families in terms of services provided by the hospital and community resources when appropriate.

Experience 

Demonstrated teaching, leadership, and critical thinking skills are essential. Minimum of two years acute care hospital experience is preferred.

Education

As necessary for required licensures.

Master’s Degree in Nursing required- Exception Nurse Practitioners’ qualified or certified as an NP in California or any other state prior to January 1, 2008.

Relevant Nurse Practitioner training certification preferred.

Licensure/Certifications

Must be currently licensed in California as an NP and be certified as a nurse practitioner by a recognized national certifying body that has established standards for nurse practitioners to practice in the State of California. Certification from either ANCC or AANP as a nurse practitioner. Furnishing license issued by the Board of Registered Nursing required. Current DEA Registration required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS and ACLS certification required. National institutes of Health Stroke Scale certification obtained within six months of hire. Critical Care Registered Nurse Certification obtained within 2 years of hire.

$164,091.20 to $219,419.20
