Position Summary

The Sleep Disorders Center Supervisor collaborates with the Pulmonary Services Director in planning, goal setting, developing department budgets, and coordinating supplies/equipment, staffing, and care/service to carry out the department's responsibilities in an efficient and effective manner in conjunction with and support of Community Hospital's strategic plan.

The supervisor is responsible and accountable for assigned tasks such as supervising the department's daily operations, including but not limited to, being a resource and role model to staff for problem resolution with issues with patient care, service delivery, safety, supplies, equipment, computer software, and customer concerns.

The supervisor ensures staff has the appropriate orientation/training and competence for the care/service provided and that all staff adheres to Exceeding Expectations standards for professional conduct. This is achieved through supportive training, coaching, developing, evaluating staff performance, policy/procedure enforcement, and corrective action, if necessary.

The supervisor plays a major role in supporting quality initiatives through ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, collection and analysis of quality and performance improvement data, assisting with development of future performance improvement targets and quality initiatives, and development or revision of department policies and procedures, as needed.

The supervisor supports financial viability with attention on expenses, revenue, utilization and productivity in assigned cost center, and tactical execution of Lean concepts.

In addition to management duties, the supervisor maintains all staff level requirements and competencies to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders under the general supervision of the Medical Director. Responsibilities include polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, and patient care and education responsibilities. Duties include but are not limited to patient set up, data collection, analyzing, and integrating patient information in order to identify and meet patient-specific needs. The supervisor provides staging and scoring of PSG's, clinical oversight of the other technicians and clerical staff, coordination with home care companies, and QA requirements to maintain Accreditation.

Experience/Skill Set

· 3 years of experience in the field of sleep medicine required

· Prior supervisor experience or known leadership qualities in an AASM accredited center are strongly preferred


· As need to obtain proper licensure


· Valid RPSGT credential is required including registration with the medical board of California OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a valid CA license for respiratory care

· American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.
