Under the leadership of the department director and assistant director, the lead charge nurse is responsible and accountable for planning directing, assessing and providing nursing care according to the policies and procedures of the hospital and department during all assigned shifts. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and
a broad perioperative nursing knowledge.
The Lead Charge Nurse coordinates the unit's activities, delegates assignments appropriately, collaborates with all services of the hospital, assesses the unit's staffing, serves as a resource and role model and helps resolve conflicts.
Minimum two years experience working in a multidisciplinary perioperative setting as a circulating and/or scrub nurse required. One year of charge nurse experience in an acute care hospital operating room or comparable health care setting preferred. Strong organizational, interpersonal and communcation skills required.
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
State of California RN license required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS is required. Certification in Perioperative Nursing Preferred (CNOR).
